zaLUG at Fourways Mall 2026

zaLUG Brings Creativity & Community Back to Fourways Mall

We are excited to share the success of our latest zaLUG display event at Fourways Mall, held over the weekend of 25 – 26 April 2026. Over the course of the weekend, an estimated 2,200 – 3,500 visitors passed through the exhibit area, with families, hobbyists, shoppers, and curious onlookers stopping to admire the incredible creativity on display.

The atmosphere throughout the weekend was vibrant and welcoming, with visitors taking their time to explore the displays, chat with exhibitors, and immerse themselves in the world of LEGO building.

Event Highlights & Featured Displays

This year’s event showcased the work of 51 exhibitors, featuring a wide variety of collaborative projects, individual creations, and themed displays.

Some of the standout attractions included:

  • A stunning castle display featuring detailed architecture, landscapes, and fantasy-inspired scenes.
  • A lively city and dinosaur display that drew in younger visitors with its combination of urban life and prehistoric action.
  • An impressive collection of Technic vehicles, ranging from nostalgic classic builds to sleek modern speed-inspired creations.
  • A strong presence of Star Wars-inspired displays, including the ever-popular Death Star and the large docking bay display by Adriaan, which became a major talking point among visitors.

The variety on display ensured there was something for everyone — from detailed architectural builds and custom creations to playful scenes and large collaborative layouts.

Collaboration with Toy Retailers & Weekend Specials

This time around, our collaboration with prominent toy retailers really amplified the event’s appeal:

ToysRUs, Toy Kingdom and Hamleys all hosted pop-up stores right alongside our displays, featuring exclusive weekend specials, bundles, and discounts on LEGO sets and related products.

Their presence allowed attendees not just to admire the builds, but to take inspiration home by purchasing sets on the spot.

Interactive Experiences

Another popular attraction throughout the weekend was the dedicated LEGO play pit, which gave younger visitors a hands-on space to build, create, and explore their imagination freely. The area remained busy for most of the event, with children enthusiastically constructing everything from small vehicles and towers to colourful imaginative creations, while parents relaxed nearby and enjoyed the atmosphere. The play pit added an extra layer of interaction to the event and helped create a welcoming environment for families spending extended time at the exhibit.

Community & Member Participation

A highlight of the event was seeing the strong sense of community around the hobby. Visitors regularly stopped to speak with exhibitors, ask questions about building techniques, and learn more about the creative process behind the displays.

We were especially encouraged by the interest shown in zaLUG itself, with several visitors expressing interest in attending future events or becoming more involved in the LEGO hobby community.

The event also provided members with an excellent opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and showcase the incredible talent within our group.

Appreciation to Fourways Mall

We extend our sincere thanks to Fourways Mall for once again hosting and supporting our event. Their continued partnership allows us to bring the LEGO hobby to a wider audience and create memorable experiences for families and fans alike.

Thank you as well to every exhibitor, volunteer, supporter, and visitor who contributed to making the weekend such a success. We look forward to building even more exciting experiences together in the future.
